Mesoscopic periodic potentials

By various techniques, artificial periodic structures are fabricated in conductive crystals. The lattice constant is comparable to both the elastic mean free path as well as to the Fermi wavelength, such that classical as well as quantum mechanical aspects are relevant for the understanding of the transport properties.  This behavior of systems at the interface from the classical to the quantum world is of interest to us here. The arrays are typically measuerd at very low temperatures and in strong magnetic fields.
