Electrons in strongly inhomogenous magnetic fields
The problem of electrons in inhomogeneous magnetic fields is, compared to that one of electrons in electrostatic potential landscapes, still in its infancy. The electron dynamics of such mesoscopic systems is only partly understood, even for the most elementary structures. Of particular interest are such structures due to their potential applications in spin electronics, where they can act as spin polarizer, for example.
In this field of research, we fabricate appropriate magnetic nanostructures in electron gases and study their influence on the electronic motion.
